University Access Pathways

Most WA universities have pathways which provide ATAR adjustments to students who meet certain school or personal background criteria.

If your ATAR is below a university's minimum, these adjustments may give you a Selection Rank which is higher than your ATAR, so you can receive an offer for courses requiring the minimum entry ATAR. If your ATAR is already over the university's minimum entry threshold, adjustments will give you a higher Selection Rank for that university. You'll be considered for entry to courses based on that Selection Rank.

TISC works out all of this for you automatically, based on the information in your application and, if you're a current Year 12 student, we'll tell you in your University Admission Advice Letter (UAAL) whether you're eligible for a pathway for one or more universities, and what your Selection Rank(s) for each university will be.

If you're a Year 12 applicant, make sure you check the pathway criteria for the university(ies) of your choice so that you can take any bonuses into consideration alongside your expected ATAR when selecting your course preferences.

Details of the criteria for each university are below:
  • Curtin University has the StepUp to Curtin pathway
  • ECU has the ECU Access pathway
  • Murdoch University has the RISE pathway
  • Notre Dame doesn't use specific access pathways due to their different admission requirements however adjustments are made for various individual circumstances
  • UWA has the Broadway pathway
