Competency in English
Western Australian universities require all students to have satisfied a competence in English requirement. Refer below to the individual
State/Territory/IB entries for acceptable interstate/IB English subjects and results.
The competence in English requirement may be satisfied by results from any calendar year.
Course Prerequisites
Some university courses in Western Australia require successful completion of prerequisite courses at Year 12 level for
entry to the course. In many cases, applicants without prerequisites will not be admitted. In some cases bridging courses
may be available, but this could extend the length of the course. You should contact the individual university(ies) for
further information on courses you are interested in. Murdoch University does not require applicants to have undertaken
specific prerequisite courses and instead provides introductory units to enable its students to become skilled in specific
areas in which they may be lacking.
For some university courses the special requirements may include bridging/special course units, interviews, auditions,
folio presentations, manual dexterity tests, aptitude tests, fitness requirements, etc. Detailed information is available
from the individual universities.
If you have completed your secondary schooling in a state other than Western Australia, or have completed an
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Australia or overseas, check below to see the interstate and IB subjects and results
accepted by the four Western Australian public universities as comparable to the published WACE prerequisites.
See
Prerequisites tables or check individual course information
via
Course search on TISC's website for prerequisite WACE courses.
Results from the current year or previous four years may be used.
If your secondary schooling is not from interstate or IB, you will need to contact the university(ies) you are interested
in attending for advice about how they would assess your school results.
